Breaking: 2 suspected cases of Monkeypox reported in lagos


- The suspected cases of Monkeypox viral disease has been detected in Lago state

- This was confirmed by the Lagos state commissioner for health

- The commissioner said the two suspected cases were currently under observation

Dr. Jide Idris, the Lagos state commissioner for health, on Monday, October 9, said that two suspected cases of Monkeypox have been recorded in the state.

Idris speaking at a news conference said that the two suspected cases were currently under observation in health facilities in the state, The Punch reports.


He said: “Though no confirmed case has been recorded, there is need to sensitise members of the public and provide adequate information on measures for prevention and control of the disease in line with the policy of the State government.”

In a previous report by aytunez, the Monkeypox viral disease has spread to Akwa Ibom state and has been confirmed by the state government.

The Punch reports that Mr Charles Udoh who is the commissioner for information and strategy on Sunday, October 8.

He said that one case of the disease has been discovered while two other suspects are under investigation.
